Charitable Status
OSJCT is a not for profit charitable Trust. Importantly, this means any financial surplus we make is reinvested for the benefit of our residents. We don’t have shareholders and don’t pay out dividends to outside stakeholders.
Everything we do as an organisation must fall within our charitable objects.
Our primary charitable purpose is the relief of the aged, the infirm, and the sick. We deliver this by providing high-quality care and support for older people and those with specific needs across a wide range of services.
Today, OSJCT supports over 4,000 people and employs more than 6,000 dedicated staff. Our care provision includes 75 registered care homes, 8 extra care housing schemes, 5 residential services, and 11 supported living services for people with learning disabilities. We specialise in nursing, dementia, and residential care, as well as offering intermediate, respite, and day care to ensure individuals and their families receive the support they need.
This object is underpinned by the Christian principles and ethos of our two sponsoring Orders (the Order of Malta and the Venerable Order of St John), on the same basis that those Orders operate - caring for people of any background, irrespective of race or religion.
